Cealith Ranks
These are the ranks that can be given or earned within the Cealith Creed.
-
Mercenaries, Assassins and Butchers help Stalkers and Sentries with their duties when waiting for a mission, as well as keeping their skills up by training the Novices when Educators need help.
Director --
-
The Director is the leader that works behind the scenes, and is the only one to take important missions that involve high ranks or royalty. They are not to appear to their subjects as it creates a sort of fear from tales of their missions that they completed. This is also to keep from someone rebelling and trying to kill them. They make the orders and often are the one to receive the list of missions first, giving them to the Overseer when missions are needed.
Overseer --
-
The Director's second in command and physical stand-in is called the "Overseer". They are the only one that knows who the Director is as well as what they look like aside from some Educators that are close to the Director. If male, they are often one of the few to breed with most Bearers to continue producing fit and hardworking youth, though it isn't totally necessary. They are in command of disciplining the youth and novices, as well as the adults, and give out missions to those that need it.
-
Mercenary --
-
The least known of the hired ranks, is the larger and muscled wolf called a Mercenary. These brutes are sent to the stronger opponents that are requested in missions to be "taken care of", while most of the others simply get the average or weaker jobs. They were trained to be quiet yet extremely strong, meant to be able to take on even the strongest target. Some even are hired to infiltrate groups and pose as one of their own to gain intel, thought this is more common for Assassins.
-
-
Assassin --
-
The average and more known of the hired ranks, the assassins are thin and quiet. They're most commonly known for getting their job finished without a hassle, normally without someone noticing they are there. They are normally the wolves given missions, seeing as most are stealth missions or simply missions that they could likely handle. These wolves are likely to be hired to infiltrate groups to gain intel or destroy them from the inside.
-
-
Butcher --
-
Similar to Mercenaries, Butchers are large and highly muscled, though they specialize in groups that ambush a group. This ranges from packs, to camps, though it is rarely a kingdom as there are less butchers than most kingdoms have of soldiers. They especially are trained to go days without food or sleep and stay to their mission no matter the consequence. Their travelling group ranges from 5-8 butchers at a time, though they are less hired as normally 1-2 assassins can take care of a small group or family.
-
-
Sentry --
-
Though they aren't exactly trained for missions, they do have the skills of an assassin in terms of how well they can do in a fight or confrontation. They are similar in ranking to guards, quietly and secretly guarding specific and important points around the territory to ensure they aren't found or caught by anyone from neighboring groups. They have secret code-like sounds that they sound, of which are different than a wolf's howl to not give away their position.
-
-
Stalker --
-
Also given assassin training, a stalker is more of a hunter and gatherer for the creed, rather than an actual hired rank. They often travel away in groups of 4-6, gathering herbs, medical items, as well as food to bring back to the camp. They were trained, just like all of the ranks, to hide their scent and blend into their surroundings by using the items around them, like mud, sticks, flowers and leaves. Sometimes they'll even use bark off of trees. They also have special code-like sounds, similar to a Sentry, though they are to help the other Stalkers know where to position themselves in a hunt.
-
Educator --
-
As with most groups, the youth need a teacher of sorts to tell them what to do and how to act. Although teachers normally encourage certain behaviors, Educators simply enforce their Creed's beliefs and rules. Educators often "apply hard force" as well as "conditioning for hard missions" by starving the novices and putting them up against harder and older wolves of their respective ranks. They normally only observe training sessions, commenting on those that are less than adequate and those that are exemplary. They'll mention the ones that are above the average to the Overseer when reporting their findings, and be harsher on those below average to get them to at least the average bunch, so that they don't struggle with their missions. The Educators practically brainwash the novices to believe and follow what the Director and Overseer say, no matter what the consequence.
Bearer --
-
The Bearer is one of few ranks females are common to get, though they aren't really treated well within the creed. Bearers are females that are to produce new youth for the majority of their lives, simply until they are no longer fertile. They are the caretakers of the youth as well until they are old enough to participate in the Separation Trials, which is the trial of courses set to see what wolves fit into which rank. Although they are often mocked by the other ranks, including some Attendants, Bearers are given first to medicine, food and water, as well as shelter and safety when evacuating as they are an essential part of the Creed's life, along with the Forebearers.
-
Attendant --
-
When a Bearer isn't able to care for their youth or is to be sent away on a trip, an Attendant often is asked to keep watch over them. They especially look over those weaker Youth or those that are gravely injured, to ensure that they have someone warm next to them if they pass. Attendants also take care of those that are injured or sick within the creed, similar to that of healers, and make sure that they are able to get back to their duties when they are fully healthy.
-
Attendants are most often Female, though they can also be males who are infertile or even elders.
-
Others
-
Forebearer --
-
Forebearers are the elders of the Creed, of which have decided not to take up as an Educator or Attendant, and instead watch the Novices training, give advice to the Overseer, Educators or Attendants or even pup-sit from time to time when an Attendant isn't available. They often are bugged for stories by youth, though they don't often agree to tell them anything. Forebearers are heavily respected and are given the first pick to medicine, food and water, as well as shelter and safety when evacuating, similarly to the Bearers.
-
However, a wolf can retire early from their rank if they have a crippling illness or injury. (Ask the owner of the Director if your wolf can retire their rank early if they have either of these before making a decision)
-
-
Novice --
-
A youth that has entered adolescents and is being trained for one of the respective ranks, including Bearer and Attendant. They are taught lessons and their duties through hard discipline, including starvation and training with a wolf more experienced in their field, this is an exception for Attendants and Bearers.
-
-
Youth --
-
The pups that are to become one of the many ranks within the Creed, most often born within the group. They don't do much before their Separation Trials, though they get first pick to anything their Bearer is allowed to. Although unusual, Youth can also include pups that are stolen or kidnapped from another group that was kept, though they have to be extremely young and impressionable for this to happen.
-
-
Creedmember --
-
This is a rank given to a non-retired, unranked member of the creed that simply resides within the territory and mostly wanders throughout the camp. They are allowed to participate in small tasks that may need their assistance, such as hunting or gathering herbs, though often just watch youth or laze around the camp.
