Creatures and Their Dangers
Of course wolves aren't the only creatures to inhabit the land. There are others, some even more dangerous than the wolves.
Prey
Small Birds
Possibly the smallest of the possible prey in the area, though they certainly aren't easy to grab. More often than not these small feathered noise makers get away before their pursuer can catch them. It certainly takes great skill to get them before they gain enough speed to retreat.
Voles, Mice, Ect.
Any small rodent is a snack for sure, and often aren't really worth the possible trouble of trying to dig them out of their holes. Of course this is a work out, and this might be the only chance for a lone hunter to get some grub. Sneaky wolves can certainly get to the pesky rodents, though so can those determined to dig their way to their lunch.
Rabbits
While not ordinarily a hunting party's prime choice of prey, rabbits certainly are available when things get tough. Of course this may need some practice, trial and error, as well as a well-structured plan and formation. When that might not work, there is always the alternative of trying to dig them out, though that may not always work.
Fish
An uncommon choice for a food choice for long term, supplies, they are occasionally gathered for extra supplies or some sorta quick food. Though in the spring it can be pretty dangerous to go fishing as bears are often attracted to streams with a large amount of fish. It can be quite fun trying to catch the slippery buggers though.
Wild Boar and Horned Rams
Though smaller prey than the norm, these creatures can be quite dangerous when pursued by an inexperienced hunter. Their driving force when trying to ram the opponent has the ability to crush quite a few bones and damage the innards. Boars can also impale a wolf during an attack, giving serious and possibly deadly wounds.
Elk, Deer, Caribou, Ect.
These large animals are the main food source for the majority of kingdoms and packs. Antlers as well as hard contacts with the hooves such as kicks, can and often will inflict major damage on the pursuer. Despite the dangers, one of these animals are probably the most amount of food one can get out of a hunt.
Predators
Birds of Prey
Although not dangerous to adults or adolescents, Birds of prey certainly are a cause for concern around or near pups. With pups being defenseless and small, a bird of prey of any kind can easily pick them up and fly off with barely anyone noticing.
Coyotes, Foxes, Ect.
While not direct carnivores to adults and adolescents, these smaller canines are competition for food and territory as well as being a danger to wandering pups. They are also most often to be infected in seasons of spreading diseases. While some may speak the same language, most cannot understand wolves and vice versa, making it hard to communicate.
Bears
These guys, as usual, are pretty big dangers to any pack or kingdom. They can be highly territorial, and can steal kills from hunting parties. Certainly able to injure or kill many wolves, especially if trying to protect cubs or steal a carcass. They absolutely cannot be reasoned with, and have thick hide so best not to try attacking.
Seavia Cats
-
Aka; Saber Tooth Cats
These cats are giants, almost as big as a small bear, and even larger than the Thohap Boar. They hunt in singles to small 1-3 numbered groups. They often only come down from the mountains when large prey is scarce, and are normally ready to kill any wolf on sight. They can and will severely injure or kill wolves, often eating them as well. No wolf has been known to take down one of these beasts, so it is best to avoid them at all costs.
Harpies
Almost as dangerous as Iris, Harpies are mostly dangerous sky predators, rarely ever seen preying on those on the ground. Harpies are about 7 feet tall, certainly towering over many wolves, however they only ever prey on small adolescents and pups. Adults are way harder to catch and often end up injuring the creature unless they absolutely need to. When a wolf gets close to their main territory, they will try to lure the wolf in as to try and get a larger meal with more harpies gathered. This might not always work as wolves don't often travel alone, but sometimes harpies get their wish. No wolf has been known to take down one of these, so it is best to avoid them.
