Your Character

Can't travel the land of Osarade without a muse to write and draw about, right? So, lets get you started with your character!

The Basics

Where to start? The basics of course! As there is a lot of information that cannot be explained on this page, please see the paragraphs below for some extra helpful information, along with the creation rules next to the information!

-Species and Powers

As with many lands, there are many sub-species of the founding Wolf species, of which can breed with each other and produce fertile offspring. As there is quite a bit of information on them that is even still being developed, please click on the buttons below to learn about the different types and information about the powers which exist in the universe!

-Rarity Percentages

Should you need assistance, ask the Owner/Co-Owner or an available moderator.

  • Common = as many as you'd like

  • Slightly Uncommon-Uncommon = 30% of your characters

  • Very Uncommon-Rare = 15% of your characters (likely slots have to be purchased)

  • Very Rare-Extremely Rare = 10% of your characters (likely slots have to be purchased)

  • Other = 1-2 limit for total characters (likely slots have to be purchased)

Design

Color: Now, as far as color is concerned, you should try to stick to natural colors. That being shades of brown, beige, tan, grey, black and off-white/cream! Of course this includes slighted hue with the colors that change the shade. Golden, Ginger, Sorrel, Blue-Grey, ect. are absolutely acceptable! Should a color be unacceptable, a staff member will let you know that you may have to change it. Feel free to use what is seen in domestic dogs and in real life wolves as reference for color if you are unsure!

---

Markings: Markings are a little more tricky. Of course you are allowed to make the markings with whichever art tool you like. Watercolor, pen tool, your own pencil, you name it! However you are allowed to make some of the more dog-like markings. This includes solid color, sable, saddle, brindle, piebald, merle, irish and even tan point-with moderation! Try not to make your wolves too dog-like as they are still supposed to be a wolf-like species, which often doesn't have defined features like the majority of domestic dogs. Should you have difficulty, you are allowed to ask the staff for suggestions!

---

Special Features: Now we, unlike most, do allow certain special features to appear naturally. Folded ears, curled tails, bob-tails and even flop ears every now and then. However just like with the more dog-like markings, please don't over-do it. We are trusting that you will stick to a more wolf-like featured character instead of full fledged dogs, please don't ruin that trust or we won't allow this feature to be created. Simply keep in mind that these wolves are not from Earth, not at all, so they are very different from the domestic dogs and have not had the same influence as Earth wolves have had. As with most creatures, these wolves have special designs and mutations that are rarer and more regulated within the world. If you'd like to know about them, check the button below!

-Character Creation Rules

-1) All characters must consist of at least a natural base color and a natural primary marking color. The designs don't have to be totally natural in terms of design but colors must be. In terms of markings, please refer to the rules and the staff if you are unsure.

-2) Characters are allowed as many markings as wanted, however only 2 different markings can be unnatural colors. The power marks (only if the wolf has a power) and 1 marking set on the wolf (aka, one color as well), of which should not be overly saturated. Everything else must be naturally colored or as close to it as possible. If you are unsure, please ask a staff member to assist you.

-3) Neons on any part of the wolf are not permitted! Markings, no matter if they are part of the unnatural set, are no allowed to have neon in any way. Eyes may be an exception occasionally, and the nails may be the color of the eyes or power marks under stylistic preference only. If you need help with the saturation levels of whatever you are concerned about, please ask a staff member for assistance.

-4) Markings and colors must be similar or the same in type to wolves or domestic dogs in real life. No other species will be allowed. However, to see specific special markings allowed in moderation, please check the button under Special Features.

-5) "Hair" or "manes" will not be permitted, however ridges of fur on their neck or back can, as well as small tufts on the top of their head. If you are unsure of what your wolf has, contact a staff member. However, please try to keep these features as minimal as possible.

THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE DESIGN

  • There are a total of 3 neon/bright colors. You are only allowed 2 unnatural colors, and even then they must be non neon/bright.

  • There is a human made item. Humans do not exist and you cannot enter with items.

  • There is a mane/hair cluster. You are not allowed ot have these.

THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE DESIGN

  • The colors are mostly natural, and the unnatural colors are dull.

  • There are no items.

  • The special fur edit isn't overly "special" and isn't a mane or hair. This is slightly overgrown fur creating a ridge on her neck.

Character Exit/Retirement Pieces

When retiring a character from the group, permanently or temporarily, they need an exit piece. The exit piece must either be a journal with at least 500 words (of a roleplay with someone else or just by yourself) or an art piece with at least a background, flat color and a recognizable character. The title or top of the description must have '*Name*'s Exit Piece' so it may be recognized as such, as well as a link to the character's application and the amount of shards they retire with. The character application will then be put under the Deceased/Retired section in the group they were submitted to.

Aging and Breeding

Aging

  • The basic aging cycle is pretty simple to grasp after keeping track of dates. Optional/Situational= **

    • Pup: Born --> Walking (a Week) --> **Controlling power (10-15 days *at least 5 must be rped) --> Apprenticed (a month) -- 1 til 6 months in a real life year.

    • Adolescent: First year *after winter --> Fully trained (their second year's fall *at least 7 training sessions must be submitted -- 6 months til end of that real life year.

    • Young Adult: 2-3 years

    • Adult: 4-8 years

    • Aging Adult: 9-11 years

    • Elder: 12+ years |Death usually occurs after 13 years due to a variety of issues|

  • Pups age about 3 months after their birth, and adolescents age the same amount to young adults. Afterwards you may age your characters as you please, and don't necessarily need to follow by the real life years.

  • Apprentices/Novices/Ect., will be done with training depending on their age. They must have at LEAST 7 training sessions that are either rped or mentioned, though not all of them have to be publicly shown. The mentor may ask the leader though private messages if they are finished with their training (including links to any and all training roleplays within the message) and the mentor will be given information to tell the trainee before their announcement ceremony (normally an art piece but can be written)~

  • Seasons are 3 months total. Each year will start in January and end in December~

    • December 1st-February 28th = Winter ; March 1st-May 31st = Spring ; June 1st-August 31st = Summer ; September 1st-November 30th = Fall

Breeding

  • Expecting Time;

    • After a wolf finds herself pregnant, either on accident or planned, they will have an expected time before they give birth of about 3 weeks. The number of cubs can be determined during the first week, by the priest available (preferred if it were one that either the owner of the rp or the co-owner, plays). This means the wolf and her mate will have time to plan for names, though they still won’t know the sexes.

  • Basic Idea, Aging and “Cubs/Pups”;

    • With breeding of two wolves, there is of course the offspring. They look like a mixture of the two parents, or mostly like one with a few tweaks the other had. The litter can consist of up to 4 pups. After having a successful litter, you will have to wait a week for them to be able to walk around and start to talk. They won’t be able to be set into training until they have gotten their power discovered with the help of the head spiritual rank of the group and completely controlled (at the day of 10-15 full days). Until they will speak to the head spiritual rank once every day until they says that they have discovered and controlled their power. The look of the pup, as with most characters, must be approved by a staff member first (owners or moderators) before being posted, but can be posted afterwards at any time with proof of having an open slot. Applications do not need to be open for this.

  • Powers;

    • With the offspring, this is the only way a power can possibly be passed down or shared with another wolf (that being their sibling). A max of 2 cubs can have the same power, however it is extremely uncommon to have them even having a similar power as their parents. They will most likely have a unique power that is different from others or have another connection to the same element as their parent (if their parent has a weak elemental power). The power is not usable or known until the head spiritual rank has helped the cub discover their power through special visits every full day until the 10th-15th visit, where they will have controlled (not mastered! They might have a few issues with it but it will become easier as they age) and ready to become apprenticed when they are able to at their first month. However powers in litters are very rare unless one or both parents have a power, and even then it can only be there in small amounts.

  • Apprenticeship;

    • This is essentially, a really big deal for the pups, even if it isn’t for the adults. The pups will be given their ceremony the day after they are able to control their power, will give them the honor of becoming apprentices. The pups will be given their apprentice titles and learn from their teachers (healers, priests, scouts, ect.) but not be able to become a full ranking until their training is done.

Appearance of Wolves in the Ethereal Plane
  • These wolves take the look of transparent, starry outlined, misty figures that are silent with glowing eyes. Their eye color is an extremely pale representation of what they used to be, and their markings are no longer visible to any normal wolf.

  • Those that can speak to the celestials (the high priest-ess and some priest-esses), are able to recognize them in their encounters. Their only encounters with the spirits are through special dream rituals that allow their mind to pass the living realm barrier. Normal wolves and other statuses of wolves are not allowed to partake in this ritual and are not allowed to see their ancestors in dreams unless in their original form (or memory).
